Born: 1952
Location: Kurnilwarri
Language: Ngaanyatjarra

Mary was born bush way at Kurnilwarri, half way between Tjukuria and Patjarr. As a child she lived in the bush with her family and they walked to Papunya and lived there for many years. She now lives in Patjarr and paints with the Kayili Artsits but visits family in Tjukuria regularly.

This painting represents Karku. There is a puli (big hill) and many sandhills at Karku. Nestled in the hills are two rockholes where people of the Tingarri (dreaming) collected fresh water. This is Mary’s mother’s country.
